I read, watch, and study sf and fantasy fiction. Before I got into academia, I was a cop in the Navy.
I have a Ph.D. in English Literature specializing in British literature of the long 19th century (especially Mary Shelley, Christina Rossetti, and Bram Stoker), contemporary British fantasy, and Jane Austen. I teach composition and literature and have been involved in the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts for several years.
